  • Roughly 1.56 million people, or one in every 200 Americans, spent at least one night in an emergency shelter or transitional housing program in 2009?
  • On a single night in January 2009, 643,000 people were homeless across the nation - with nearly one-third living on the street?  
  • On January 22, 2009, 1,190 people were homeless in suburban Cook County - nearly 8% (156 people) were found in locations unsuitable for human habitation?2
